What's next?

From Producing Their Own Movies to Planning a Wedding, These Grads Are Taking Charge

Zac Efron
Zac's extracurricular activities include Me and Orson Welles, in which he plays an actor who butts heads with legendary director Welles. Also up: Zac as the teenage version of Matthew Perry in the comedy 17 Again, about a middle-aged guy who gets to relive his adolescence. "I'm enjoying the current path I'm on," Zac says of his career.

Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa hit the road to promote her latest album, Identified. "I've been going to small towns where kids wouldn't be able to go to the big cities," she says. "It's been a blast." She is also starring in the movie Bandslam (due next April), about a bunch of high school kids who form a rock group in the hopes of winning a battle-of-the-bands competition.

Corbin Bleu
Corbin—who has his own production company called Bleuman Incorporated—produced and starred in Free Style, a film about motocross (due out in January). The project was a family affair, since he and his dad, David Reivers, worked on it together. "We did everything ourselves," says Corbin. "It was incredible to have control over all of it."

Ashley Tisdale
Ashley goes from squabbling with her East High classmates to battling aliens in the film They Came from Upstairs (due out in January), about a family whose vacation home gets invaded by the space creatures.

Lucas Grabeel
Like Corbin, Lucas has started his own production company—"It's called 13431 Productions; it's a palindrome," he says—but he's also staying in front of the camera in The Adventures of Food Boy (about a guy who can make food appear in his hands) and the big-budget drama Milk, with A-list costars Sean Penn and James Franco.

She's Engaged!
KayCee Stroh has a whole different kind of production to focus on after the HSM3debut—her wedding to fellow Utah native Ben Higginson. She hopes the entireHSM cast can come to her January nuptials. Stroh's fiancĂ© will now get to share her spotlight. "I took him to a red carpet event the other day, and he was like, 'This is so neat!'" says Stroh. As for the honeymoon? "We thought about maybe doing a cruise," she says.

The HSM3 stars reminisce about prom night

One's Been to Eight, One Didn't Like Her Dress, and One Wishes He'd Worn Shorts"If I had gone to prom, it probably would have been me with my girlfriends, dancing and being silly. I probably would have worn a fun, short, flirty dress. But nothing too short, because I'd be dancing."
—VANESSA HUDGENS

"I've been to several, and the HSM prom experience was more fun. In real life, it's awkward for guys. There are a lot of reluctant preparations."
—ZAC EFRON

"I went to a small school, so it wasn't a big, magnificent prom, but it was fun. It is a highlight of high school."
—MONIQUE COLEMAN

"My junior prom dress was really big—it could actually stand on its own. It was this big pink dress, and I could not dance in it."
—ASHLEY TISDALE

"If I could do my prom night over, I wouldn't have dressed in a tux. I would have worn something more comfortable, like shorts and a T-shirt."
—LUCAS GRABEEL

"I've been to eight proms. The best ones are about the music. Don't play too many slow songs."
—CORBIN BLEU

How hard was it saying goodbye?

"We went into the dressing room before our last scene, and everybody just lost it."
—CORBIN

"The final scene made me so emotional. You wish you could stay forever with your friends in high school."
—ZAC

"I was the biggest crybaby, but we're not saying goodbye to each other, just to our characters."
—MONIQUE

"We were all very huggy. But it's not the end—we're going to see each other at premieres and press tours and all of that."
—LUCAS

"After the graduation scene, we pulled down the curtain and pulled down the HSM sign, and we were crying. I bawled."
—VANESSA

"All of us were crying, even Lucas—the serious one. There is a connection with all of us that is unexplainable."
—ASHLEY

East High's Sweetheart Dishes on Living on Her Own (Scary!), Waltzing with Zac and Her Dream Movie Role

AGE: 19
BIRTHDAY: DEC. 14
PLAYS: SUPER SCHOLAR GABRIELLA MONTEZ

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO MISS ABOUT PLAYING GABRIELLA?

She's so sweet and so happy. At times things get stressful, and it's hard to stay cheerful all the time. But my character is so happy, it just cheers me up. It's an amazing thing.

WHAT'S THE BEST THING THAT'S COME OUT OF THIS EXPERIENCE?

Truthfully, there are so many things. We made a major accomplishment: We brought musicals back. I'm proud that kids growing up have that again.

AND THE WORST?

We kind of lose our privacy. But you know, we're—oh my gosh, I almost said, "we're all in this together!" But that's what makes us close. We've grown together, we've had these experiences, and we're still going through it together.

ZAC SAID YOU PICKED UP THE WALTZ MORE QUICKLY THAN HE DID IN THE PROM SCENE. TRUE?

That's very sweet. Girls are naturally more graceful, and guys are—how do I put it?—clumsy? But he did so well.

IS ZAC A KLUTZ?

I'm the clumsy one out of everyone. I actually tripped and fell down the stairs just before the prom number!

WHAT
HSM MOMENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO RELIVE?

Gosh, you know, the first
High School Musical when we were doing rehearsals was so fun. We were getting to know each other. We'd go out to dinner every night; we'd hang out by the pool. We were kids, and we were just silly and funny and fun.

HOW HAVE YOU GROWN UP OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS?

I'm much more responsible. I used to be the one who would leave my stuff everywhere. I know where my things are now! Most of the time, anyway. I've come out of my shell. When the first movie started, I was shy. I learned how to drive. I bought my first house.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I just got my keys yesterday. It's such a big deal! I'm packing up my things from my parents' house. It's the first time I'll be out on my own—I'm scared! I'm used to waking up and having my mom make me breakfast. But it's part of growing up. It's exciting. It's going to be fun.

HOW DO YOU TREAT YOURSELF AFTER A LONG DAY OF DANCING?

I'll eat something yummy. French toast, candy. I try not to let myself eat too many bad things. I used to eat ice cream before bed. I realized maybe I should give vegetables a shot.

YOU'VE BEEN ON A CONCERT TOUR LATELY. IS IT LONELY TRAVELING WITHOUT THE GANG?

Not really. I have six backup dancers with me on tour and three of the girls are on my bus. It's so fun hanging out with the girls, feeding off each other's energy onstage as performers, and then going back to the bus, just being girls, hanging out, eating and watching movies.

WHAT KIND OF ROLES DO YOU WANT TO PLAY IN THE FUTURE?

I'd like to do an action flick where I play a butt-kicking chick. It's fun to be a fighter. For women, it's empowering.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR FUTURE
HSM STARS?

Just be smart and don't do things you'll regret. But I'd say that to everybody.

WILL YOU MISS WORKING SO CLOSELY WITH ZAC?

No one says it's the last time. Who knows what the future will bring.

Meet the stars!

The HSM3 Gang Open Up About Everything from Dating to Moving Out on Their Own to Where They Think They'll Be 10 Years from Now

Behind the scenes of HSM3!

Flashy Dance Numbers (Zac and Corbin's First Duet!), Cast Bonding (Lots of Hugs and Goofiness), Plot Scoops (What's Sharpay Up to Now?): Take a Peek Backstage at High School Musical 3: Senior Year

"I try to be productive" during downtime on-set, says Vanessa (in the East High gym). "But usually I just goof off with everybody."
"It's uncomfortable," Lucas confesses of dancing in tight pants and a belt.
While filming, Zac would give Ashley workout tips. "He's like, 'You have to cut down on carbs.' But I'm a big fan of carbs," she says.
FUN FACT: CORBIN'S NICKNAME FOR MONIQUE IS MO-MO.
"You've always known that they're together," Corbin says of Chad and Taylor. "But this time around you get to see that there's an actual relationship going on."
Troy and Chad's junkyard scene (with Mini-Me actors Skyler Johnson (left) and Tui-Niua Tuita) "is our first duet," says Corbin. "It's a bromance!"
"After we perform, we're winded," says Vanessa, (goofing off with Monique). "It's hard."
FUN FACT: ASHLEY HAD GUITAR HERO IN HER TRAILER
"Her future is Broadway, and she doesn't want anyone standing in her way," Ashley says of Sharpay's attitude in the film.
"The numbers are much more grand. The music is really good," says Vanessa (between scenes of HSM3).
"On this movie I was working with my best friends," says Ashley (in rehearsal). "You don't always get to do that."
FUN FACT: 1,000 EXTRAS TAKE PART IN HSM3'S GRADUATION
Saying goodbye "was a very emotional day," recalls Ashley. "All of us were cryin

10 reason why you might want to see HSM3!

Though Zac is recently legal and KayCee just announced her engagement, HSM’s stars actually look like high school students.

2. It’s our last chance to see the original characters (the prospect of a High School Musical 4 sans Zashnessa sounds about as appealing as a Dylan-free 90210).

3. None of our classmates looked like Troy Bolton.

4. No one can rock a jaunty hat quite like Lucas Grabeel.

5. Big-screen proof of whether Zac Efron wears mancake foundation.

6. We’ve got the music in us.

7. HSM 2, which saw the Wildcats toiling at an elite country club, taught us more about the injustices of the class system than an episode of Gossip Girl.

8. We’re relieved to hear that the production of a College Musical is unlikely.

9. We can only imagine how many wardrobe changes for Sharpay the senior prom will demand.

10. As evidenced by our fashion-forward photo shoot, Zac, Ashley, and Vanessa are all grown up.

HSM3 in Melbourne premiere (paparazzi video)

I know it's not perfect but I think you can see that every people are screaming and shouting and yelling and they're sooo loud! You can see how they love them all over the world. It's a little bit hysterical I think if you can understand what are they shouting. (: But they're amazing and deserve these fans!
Enjoy watching! (:
